Welcome to the faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the faculty is one of the four foundational faculties at the inception of of the University. The faculty made it a delibrate policy to attain and ensure a very high academic standard. Its aims, to position itself as a global and national faculty in the university by building high quality graduates through innovation and godly character for national transformation.

The Faculty of Humanities/Social Sciences is a combination of two Faculties and thereby sub-divided into two with a total number of six (6) Departments:

  • English and Literary Studies

FACULTY OF THE SOCIAL SCEINCES

  • Sociology
  • Demography and Social Statistics
  • Economics and Development Studies
  • Psychology

There are Faculty Courses which all the students in The Faculty must offer in addition to the Departmental Courses and GST (General Studies & Entrepreneurship Development Unit), respectively. The Faculty comprises of Academic Staff, Non-academic Staff and Technologists.

Undergraduate Programmes

  1. i.In the Faculties of Humanities/Social Sciences, each Course requires a minimum of 8 semesters or a maximum of 10 semesters through UTME. Also, Direct Entry requires a minimum of 6 semesters and a maximum of 8 semesters for a four-year full-time degree programme.
  2. ii.Classification of Degrees

The classification of the undergraduate degree programmes of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti shall be determined by the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) earned by students. However, professional degrees shall be awarded unclassified in some disciplines. The classification shall be:

      2.                       2nd Class Honours (Upper Division)                              3.50-4.49

           3.                      2nd Class Honours (Lower Division)                                2.40- 3.49
